MODEL WEARS L: 5ft 11" // 42" Chest // 34" Waist The Crafter is a staple piece of the collection and was launched as our very first chore jacket. In the latest iteration, we have further perfected the wash technique to give it an authentic 'lived in' look while introducing an opening to the back of the pockets to offer even more functionality. Our best-selling Crafter ‘CHORE’ Jacket is made from 80% heavy cotton twill, 17% poly, and 8% stretch for comfort and ease of movement.  This is a highly practical workwear garment with a rounded collar, button detail cuffs, elbow patches, and a useful set of external and internal pockets. It features cinch straps on the back to adjust to your desired fit.  We have added a &SONS Carpenter’s pencil holder in the chest pocket. Coupled with all of the historic hallmarks of a solid chore jacket, our Crafter is a unique take on the traditional look. Equally relaxed with our cotton twill mix but with the option to wear open and layered or buttoned up for a sharper look. Origins From workwear to formality, the shawl collared jacket is an essential piece to a gentleman’s attire. Few jackets are as tough, versatile, and functional as the traditional chore. This faithful Chore ticks every workwear box and has done since the 19th Century when used by French artisans and US railroad workers to provide comfort, protection, and functionality. The Shawl collar is seen across many garments in a Pioneers wardrobe, from cardigans to blazers and even waistcoats. The design was originally adopted by Victorians as they began to look at less-formal attire for both around the home and outside. As the gentleman retired for a smoke they would don a less formal jacket to prevent the smell from making its way onto their evening wear. The relaxed collar, with a much deeper cut V still gave the gentry a sophisticated look but with a more relaxed feel. The collar is simply an extended lapel which made sewing easier and less work for tailors, this only added to its popularity. Style Tip: Layering couldn’t be simpler with our Crafter chore. The single lined jacket is made of a unique mix which allows it to remain rugged and hardwearing but with a slight stretch. From railroad workers at the turn of the Century to sheep farmers on the hills of Yorkshire, the humble, rugged work boot has straddled utilitarian, heritagewear and high street fashion for decades. But as the momentum gathers for garments ‘made to last,’ you don’t need to look further than a handmade Portuguese leather boot to epitomise this revolution. The Drover boot design was showcased in our first collection and allowed us to offer an entire outfit for the modern Pioneer – to dress them from ‘Cap to Boot’ as the saying went.  This boot style was initially made to provide local quarrying and lead mining industries in north England with rugged footwear that would survive some of the most severe conditions. We have retained the traditional aesthetics of this famous footwear and worked closely with our makers to produce a hardwearing boot weighing in at just 750g.  The soft, supple leather means the boots require minimal breaking in and are immediately comfortable straight out of the box. This stunning leather is aniline dyed in the drum to create deep and vibrant colours. It is finished with a combination of transparent waxes and oils, which gives the leather avery soft feel. When the leather is stretched or pulled, the colour migrates and becomes lighter in the pulled areas producing a beautiful patina. The Drover boot comes with our bespoke sole, leather laces, soft in-sole, extra-long boot pull, and the &SONS utility pocket and is complete with their own Cotton Drawstring bag. Our Boots are made in Portugal, famous for their quality leathers and craftsmanship. We have retained the traditional aesthetics of this famous bootbut with softer leather &SONS details and lightweight construction Over half of my wardrobe is now &SONS tops, jeans, boots etc. Says it all really. Complete your outfit Step back to decades of heritage wear… Origins The name Drover comes from the ancient legacy of Anglo-Saxon Britain. The name belonged to those who worked driving the livestock from the fields to the markets. This person was called a drover. Many drovers started in Wales and accompanied the animals on foot or on horseback.  For three centuries, the people who dwelled in London, Manchester and other big cities had their meat brought to them by the drovers. Complete your outfit Your everyday essentials Origins In 1925, Jacob Golomb, founder of Everlast, designed the elastic-waist trunks to replace the leather-belted trunks that were worn by boxers. The choice was quite simple and the elastic band trunks easily beat out the competitor. These trunks immediately became famous, but it wasn’t until the military issued them to the soldiers during World War II that boxers gained wider popularity.   The soldiers thought the fit, with the airy structure, was comfortable, not least because they allowed air to circulate in warmer temperatures.
