MODEL WEARS MEDIUM: 6ft 2" // 41" Chest // 32" Waist Over the last 12 months, we developed the ‘Essentials Range’. A collection of undergarments made from super soft organic cotton and something our Pioneers have been asking for over the years. We are proud to introduce our first piece from the collection, our white vest. Like the Henley Shirt or Waistcoat, the vest is a cornerstone of the British Wardrobe. Undergarments were traditionally worn to protect the wearer’s skin from abrasive clothes and offered no insulation as a layering piece. Typically, gentlemen or noblemen wore more outerwear for cooler climates, but this was not an option for the less fortunate. Soon, the working-class adopted tunics, which is believed to be where the vest originated. Fast forward 100s of years, and the vest is now a versatile layer worn as an undergarment with shirts. The sleeveless garment gives the wearer freedom of movement and is less bulky than a heavy cotton T-Shirt. My &SONS collection is now complete" Complete your outfit The Pioneers everyday essential OUR PROMISE TO YOU Vintage-inspired clothing for the modern-day Pioneer. The 8 piece flat cap style now often known as a Cabbie Cap, Paddy Cap, Newsboy Cap, and Bakerboy became, like the immigrants that brought it with them, totally assimilated into the fabric of classic 20th Century Americana. Wool Melton Characteristics. Wool melton is a thick, dense fabric with a soft brushed surface. This felted and brushed fabric is smooth and flat to the touch. Wool melton is tightly woven and the weave is not highly visible to the naked eye because of the felting process.Designed and Manufactured in the UK from 100% wool. looks both elegant and stylish and is the right choice for every day use nearly the whole year. Complete the outfit 100 years of the baker boy cap Origins The 8 piece flat cap style now often known as a Cabbie Cap, Paddy Cap, Newsboy Cap and Baker boy, became, like the immigrants that brought it with them, totally assimilated into the fabric of classic 20th Century Americana. The style was popular in Europe and North America in the early 20th centuries among both boys and adult men. As the name suggests, it was at the time associated with newspaper boys. This gives rise to a misunderstanding. It is true that many newspaper boys and other working boys at the time wore flat caps along with other styles. This style was not, however, worn only by boys.Flat caps were very common for North American and European men and boys of all classes during the early 20th century and were almost universal during the 1910s-20s, particularly among the working 'lower' classes. A great many photographs of the period show these caps worn not only by newsboys, but by dockworkers, high steel workers, shipwrights, costermongers, farmers, beggars, bandits, artisans, and tradesmen of many types. This is also well attested in novels and films of this period and just after. Eight-piece style caps are essentially an offshoot of a scottish tam o' shanter. While they were worn by boys and men of all social classes, they were worn by the 'upper' classes primarily for leisure activities, and the style became associated with well-to-do country sportsmen, drivers and wealthy golfers. Style Tip: Wear the cap facing forward, unless of course we're back in the 90's. From railroad workers at the turn of the Century to sheep farmers on the hills of Yorkshire, the humble, rugged work boot has straddled utilitarian, heritagewear and high street fashion for decades. But as the momentum gathers for garments ‘made to last,’ you don’t need to look further than a handmade Portuguese leather boot to epitomise this revolution. The Drover boot design was showcased in our first collection and allowed us to offer an entire outfit for the modern Pioneer – to dress them from ‘Cap to Boot’ as the saying went. This boot style was initially made to provide local quarrying and lead mining industries in north England with rugged footwear that would survive some of the most severe conditions. We have retained the traditional aesthetics of this famous footwear and worked closely with our makers to produce a hardwearing boot weighing in at just 750g. The soft, supple leather means the boots require minimal breaking in and are immediately comfortable straight out of the box. This stunning leather is aniline dyed in the drum to create deep and vibrant colours. It is finished with a combination of transparent waxes and oils, which gives the leather avery soft feel. When the leather is stretched or pulled, the colour migrates and becomes lighter in the pulled areas producing a beautiful patina. The Drover boot comes with our bespoke sole, leather laces, soft in-sole, extra-long boot pull, and the &SONS utility pocket and is complete with their own Cotton Drawstring bag. Our Boots are made in Portugal, famous for their quality leathers and craftsmanship. We have retained the traditional aesthetics of this famous bootbut with softer leather &SONS details and lightweight construction Over half of my wardrobe is now &SONS tops, jeans, boots etc. Says it all really. Complete your outfit Step back to decades of heritage wear… Origins The name Drover comes from the ancient legacy of Anglo-Saxon Britain. The name belonged to those who worked driving the livestock from the fields to the markets. This person was called a drover. Many drovers started in Wales and accompanied the animals on foot or on horseback. For three centuries, the people who dwelled in London, Manchester and other big cities had their meat brought to them by the drovers. This was a vast operation and at its peak, there were more than 2000 animals being driven through the streets of London market every single day. Made in Portugal Features A longer ‘Boot Pull’ which makes fitting easier and quicker and features our hand-embossed &SONS ‘Ampersand’ A small leather utility pocket to the right boot - Ideal for coins, bottle openers, or anything you need stash away We have chosen to use the British Made Dainite sole which carries their recognisable trademark grip and added a soft leather insole to give the boot a more traditional look We have added genuine leather laces to help make them more durable and long-lasting. Introducing the Vale Scarf, the ideal companion for your winter wardrobe. The Vale, the latest addition to our range of scarves, is a chunky, grey weave that creates a unique texture and is finished with a ribbed navy edge for that traditional look. The military has also used them as rank insignia and unit designators for many years, from the Terracotta Warriors of China to modern-day desert military units. Style Tip: The Drape is the simplest of all and sometimes, all you need. Simply drape the scarf around the back of the neck and let it fall on either side to add another layer and pop of colour. Adjust the front to be a bit smooth and tighten closer to the neck as desired. Looks great tucked underneath a chore jacket. The “Parisian” Fold the scarf in half in the middle so that the ends touch and hold the doubled-over bend in one hand while passing the loose ends around the back of your neck with the other. Tuck the ends through the bend and pull snugly. This is the most common look in the &SONS style catalogue. Made in Turkey Features 50% wool 25% viscose and 25% Polyamide We have used two different stitch types to create a textured effect. 2x2 ribbed edge.
